Sunita knows what Friday looks like.
“This is the first job where I know on Monday what I'll earn by Friday.”
Seven years ago, Sunita moved from Gaya in Bihar to Bengaluru with her husband and two young daughters. Like thousands of migrant women, she entered domestic work through informal word-of-mouth networks. At her peak, she was running between six different apartments in HSR Layout every morning.
The work was physically punishing, but the financial uncertainty was worse. 'If an employer went on holiday for two weeks, they would cut half my salary,' Sunita recalls. 'One family left the city overnight without paying my last month's wages. There was no agreement, no contract, no one to call.'
When TidyBee opened its first Hive Hub in HSR Layout in late 2025, Sunita was one of the first walk-in applicants. The five-day Hive Academy course was an eye-opener. 'For the first time, someone taught us why colour-coded cloths matter to prevent kitchen bacteria, how to protect our backs when mopping, and that we have the right to leave if anyone speaks to us without respect.'
Today, Sunita works structured six-hour shifts from Monday to Saturday. Because every booking pays 72% directly to the Bee and deposits hit her bank account every Friday, her family's financial rhythm has completely transformed. Her daughters' school fees are paid on time every month, and she has comprehensive medical insurance.
'When I put on my Mint uniform and caddy, people in the apartment lifts don't look past me anymore. They say: good morning, Sunita.'
